IKONA Mission Log 01: The Next Frontier
Launching our next mission to explore the future of learning in healthcare.
What do space, health and learning all have in common? Well, for starters they are complex, vast, and at times a bit overwhelming. But if we dig a bit deeper, they are also fundamental parts of our existence and daily lives. To explore any one of them also requires a combination of teamwork, discovery and curioisity that brings us all together and allows us to acheive moonshots far beyond what we thought was possible. Did you know 400,000 men and women came together to work on the Apollo program and put a human on the moon?1 Much like the excitement of a new space age, we are also at the beginning of a new era when it comes to learning and healthcare. We want to help you join and navigate that exciting future as it unfolds, and hopefully leave you feeling a bit more prepared, curious and optimistic about what happens next.
This newsletter aims to bring together the key elements shaping the future of learning in healthcare by sharing stories, conversations, resources and events from across the IKONAverse, from T-Minus 10 to educational webinars, product launches to company news and everything in between. Because at IKONA, our mission to make health literacy accessible for millions of providers, patients and care teams starts with measuring our progress today. Achieving any giant leap begins with measuring and sharing our small steps along the way, and a Mission Log is how the most successful organizations make that happen.
Welcome to IKONA’s first Mission Log. 🔭

T-Minus 10, S01 Recap
T- Minus 10 is the show with 10-minute takes on the future of learning in healthcare, hosted by our CEO, Tim Fitzpatrick.
Our first season of T-Minus 10 explored topics across four main themes we’re following in healthcare. These themes include:
Emerging technologies (AI, VR, AR)2
Care model innovations (VBC, KCC, virtual care)3
Community building (patient advocacy, clinical trials, ownership)
Health literacy and social determinants of health (SDoH)
Voices from Season 01
We heard from 20 guests who shared their expertise, experiences and passions for these areas. From kidney care leaders like Amar Patel (BalboaCare), Qasim Butt (IKONA), Nieltje Gedney (Home Dialyzors United), Vanessa Evans (Fresenius), Mufaddal Kheda (Evergreen), and Mandeep Sahani (Desert Kidney) to clinician-founders like Yair Saperstein (AvoMD) and Derek Borkowski (Pyrls), we are just scratching the surface of what’s still to come on this voyage.4

We will be launching our next T10 Expedition (ahem, “season”) in the coming days, so you won’t want to miss it! Make sure you Follow T-Minus 10 on LinkedIn to catch the latest episodes, quotes, and takeaways from the show. New episodes air every other Wednesday.
